Well for those of you who don't know Vern has been looking to buy an airplane. He has been on the search for about the last 4 months. He has always wanted to fly and thinks that now the time is right to start. He thinks he has grown-up or something! :) So him and his dad have looked at many different planes in the last 4 months. Taylorcrafts of all kinds, PA-12, and PA-14. I am sure there are more I just can't remember them all. So he just hadn't really found one that jumped out at him until he was looking on Craigslist the end of last week and found a PA-12 for a great, I mean GREAT deal! The guy had no plans of selling it until a good friend of his in Texas passed away that had a Supercub. The family of the gentleman called the man that owned the PA-12 and told him that the Supercub was willed to him. He told them he didn't need it he had a perfectly good plane. Well the gentleman that passed away always dreamed of coming to Alaska and touring the state in his Supercub with Greg(the owner of the PA-12). Unfortunately they never got the chance. As of last week the PA-12 was for Sale and Vern was third on the list. However, because is was such a good deal Greg's phone has been ringing off the hook. He was a little overwhelmed, well a lot overwhelmed. So told Vern last night that he is # 1 on his list and if he goes through with selling it...Its Ours.
With the money the man makes from selling the PA-12 he told Vern he is going to start a scholarship fund in the gentleman's name that passed away down in Texas for pilots. We think that no matter what happens with the plane and whether we get it or not that this is such a thoughtful and noble idea.
So to make a long story short Vern found a plane. This was his words last night:
The PA-12 is my first choice, but like wives, you have your first choice and then you have the one you marry!
Can you believe he said that! He was laughing so hard at himself he almost fell off the bar stool. I almost helped him fall off of it! So that is my smarty pants husband for you!!! To top it off when he kissed me good night.....he said love you second choice, and once again thought he was REALLY funny! :)

The plane better not become first choice....you're the co owner of that thing...and what's his is yours and what's yours is yours. You can tell him that I said so too!

I still can't believe he said that!! I can't wait to see it and I'm very happy for you guys. I'm pretty sure you'll be calling it your own soon!! I want to see a picture of YOU in the pilot seat!!
