We Are Another Year Older

I haven't posted in a while so I thought that I better update the blog. Vern and I had birthdays on Saturday and Monday and we had a great birthday weekend. We both had Friday off from work for some friends wedding. So Friday we just ran some errands. I had to get my driver's license renewed and then we thought of the idea Thursday night while talking to Vern's dad that we should get our passports and Friday was a perfect day to do that, so that is what we did. We have sent in the applications with our "mug shots" and are hoping to have them back in a couple weeks if all goes well. Friday afternoon was the wedding and reception and it was all so beautiful.

We got a room at the Marriott hotel Friday night. That is where the reception was and we thought it was a nice way to celebrate our birthdays as well so we treated ourselves to a night out. We had an awesome view from our room of the Port of Anchorage. We saw the big cargo ships come in and out via the tugs. The lights were all so cool was well.

Side note: Vern was a little out of his element in Anchorage. We almost got hit head on in the parking garage. Did you know that in the 6th Ave. parking garage you drive on the left side of the roadway???? We know now. It scared the crap out of both of us! I told Vern to pull in the first parking spot you come to we have to get parked! LOL Then at the reception there was raw tuna. Vern tried it and so did I. After he finished his plate he reached for what was left on mine. I thought to myself "oh he must of liked it." But then he only had one bite and looked at me with this funny face, like he didn't like it. So he says "Everyone always eats that sushi, so i thought i was missing something so i gave it the benefit of the doubt and tried another piece(off my plate) he paused for a second and said "I wasn't missing shit" I guess we can come the the conclusion that Vern only likes cooked food! LOL So lesson learned...... cook the food and sometimes we do have to drive on the left side of the road in America!

Saturday night was dinner with my family at the Hanger in Big Lake. The prime rib there is fabulous!!!!! We highly recommend it!

Then Sunday was church and bowling and pizza with Vern's family for all the October/November birthday's in his family!

Our birthday weekend continued to Tuesday night with Matt, Amy, Jeff, and Deana. Like always we had a wonderful time with them.

We also got some wonderful gifts from all of our friends and family. :) THANKS!

Monday night we were SUPERSTARS.......Well not so much I guess, but we were part of the filming of a commercial for Pippel Insurance. We just switched our insurance over to them and saved a ton of money so they asked us to help them out with their advertising. I can't wait to see it!

Well we are half way thru the week...YEAH!

You two are so funny. I doubt that I could have tried the raw fish....something about being cooked here. BUT, we only get fish as a TREAT, so all of our beef must be cooked. Glad to hear that you had a fun time. It all changes when you have a little one to help celebrate with...you stick around more just to keep the packing down. (Well, unless you're Deana, then it doesn't matter much.) Any plane news yet?

Ashli-No plane yet but vern did pay for his ground school on-line last night. I might take it with him. I haven't decided yet. Happy Halloween!
