I am a little late to update this but better late then never...Right?
Vern took a crash course three day ground school this last weekend. He had class on Saturday and Sunday. Then he had his test at 1:00pm on Monday. Prior to the weekend class he has been studying his butt off. He studied every chance he got for the last month. I am very proud of him. He got a 90%. Way to go Vern. So he has his ground school out of the way now.
His plane is getting worked on again and should be up and running by this weekend. He had a cracked cylinder that needed replaced. Hopefully now the plane will be good to go for a while and he can get back to flying. He has to have a minimum of 40 hours to get his license. He is at about 20 now. He has a few more things he has to do such as 3 hours of night flight, land at a tower controlled runway, 1 hour of instrument flight, a dual cross country trip(100 nautical miles I think) and a solo cross country trip(100 miles as well, i think). After all that he will be good to go and should have his license.
I am very proud of him.....what an accomplishment.
I am thinking of taking on the challenge myself. Vern and I both think I should go thru the ground school and at least 10 hours of instructed flight. If i feel like it is something i might want to pursue then i can solo and continue on with it. I agree with Vern though. I should know how to fly in case I ever had to. I am ready for another challenge and I think this will be a great one. So when Vern is done with his license completely then I will look into ground school. I will keep you all posted on that!
I have just been doing yard work in my spare time. My flowers are all starting to bloom and hopefully we will have some strawberries and tomatoes before the summer is over.
Have a great weekend!

You should know how to fly...but it is something that you need to continue every once in a while or you forget. I have a little over 7 hours, and would not know what to do now. The tower stuff is fun....that's the only think that I have learned on. Night flight is also fun...I loved looking at the runway lights and the landing lights on the plane at night. Have fun with your flowers and garden.
