Happy New Years!!!!

Vern and I had a great time at the cabin. Mom, Dad, and Jake were there one night with us but other then that it was just Vern, Riley(the dog), and I. It was fun but cold. Not near as cold as we were experiencing at home. The coldest it got at the cabin was -10 degrees. When we got home and checked the memory on our digital thermometer it said it had hit -34.6 degrees while we were at the cabin. So even though it was cold we were in the warmest spot!

Wednesday we left our house at 1:00pm. Made it to the cabin around 3:45pm. Vern got the stove going then headed out to the parking lot to meet Mom, Dad, and Jake and to get his groomer to tow behind his snowmachine. While he did that I did my part and went and got water from the water hole. He thought I was sitting on my butt the whole time, but I did get 5 buckets! HAHA Then was off to "Base Camp" (Dean and Cyndie's cabin) to bring in the New Year! And boy did we ever! It was great fun with all of our friends and family!

Thursday we didn't get up till 11:00ish and were pretty sluggish from the night before drinking activities! HAHA. Vern groomed the trail to our property up the creek so it would set up fro people to freight up the hill to our property and some other properties up there. I sat in the cabin and read and knitted all day. Unfortunately Mom, Dad, and Jake had to leave. Dad had to work Friday!

Friday we just hung out. It was so cold we didn't want to do much but we just went cabin hoping and visited with everyone. Then came back and took a sauna in Mom and Dad's wonderful sauna/bathhouse. It was great!

Saturday was about the same, just relaxing and hanging out! Vern had the bright idea of doing dishes first thing in the morning(and I am not complaining) and we instantly discovered as he drained the sink that the drain was froze and the pipes underneath the sink broke! BUMMER. He discovered this as his feet were getting wet from the water draining out on the floor! We got that all taken care of and I worked on thawing the drain tube that afternoon. Then we went up to measure our shed for siding. It was horrible. not only was it -10 the wind was blowing. Good thing that it was a 10 minute job because Vern couldn't feel his fingers by the time we got back to the cabin!

Sunday we woke up and Vern ran out to the parking lot and started the generator to plug the truck in. Good thing because I don't think it would have started other wise! It was cold. Riley didn't not want to get in his kennel for the ride out. I don't blame him but we did just buy him a new kennel with a jacket to go over the kennel though so I think it kept him fairly warm.

So now my explanation for not having any pictures!!!!

IT WAS TO COLD TO TAKE MY GLOVES OFF TO TAKE ANY PICTURES!!!!

I will take more pictures when we are up there and it is warmer!

This was the view of Mt. Mckinely from Mom and Dad's from cabin window! AWESOME!!!

Happy 2009 to everyone and my it be all you hope for!!!

THat's a beautiful view...I'd love waking up to it every morning....even if I had to stay inside to enjoy it most of the year!
